Xiver adds to manufacturing capabilities

Eindhoven-based microsystems and photonics foundry invests in ASML PAS 5500 DUV lithography

Eindhoven-based Xiver, a specialty foundry with expertise in microsystems and photonics manufacturing, has acquired an ASML PAS 5500 deep ultra-violet (DUV) lithography tool to further extend its technology and industrial manufacturing capabilities.

Xiver will use its expanded toolset to enhance the fine patterning, dimensional control, precision alignment and pattern fidelity that customers require for specialty photonics and semiconductor devices.

“The new DUV tool opens up device structures that were previously beyond the practical limits of our lithography capabilities,” said Joost van Beek, Xiver’s CTO. “In photonics, it supports better-defined waveguide geometries, lower propagation losses and tighter bend radii. As these designs move beyond the prototype stage, the same capabilities help deliver the consistency and repeatability required for high-value products with increasingly fine features.”

Xiver, which specialises in technologies for semiconductor equipment, ultrasonic transducers, optical communications, and IR sensing and imaging microsystems, has been expanding its manufacturing capabilities to align with customer roadmaps and anticipated capacity demands since it was founded in early 2025.

“We believe our manufacturing model is successful because we engage with customers very early in their design process,” said Xiver CEO, Wil van de Wiel. “Adding DUV lithography expands the capabilities we bring to those engagements, giving customers more freedom to develop differentiated designs while maintaining a clear path to scalable manufacturing.”
