PowerAmerica announces WBG short course

Three day online course will cover fundamentals of SiC and GaN materials, device fabrication, reliability and applications

PowerAmerica, the US DoE-backed organisation connecting wide bandgap chip-makers and users with research experts, has announced its 2026 WBG Short Course.

Running for three days (February 3- 5, 2026) online via Zoom, the course will feature 16 experts from across both industry and academia, who will share their knowledge on the fundamentals of SiC and GaN materials, device fabrication and reliability, and power electronics applications.

Subjects include substrates, epitaxy, chip design, fabrication, edge termination, planar and trench MOSFETs, BPDs, modules and packaging, reliability and ruggedness, gate drives, bidirectional technology, vertical GaN, and of key power applications, including converters, grid, AI data centres, motor drives, circuit breakers, EV chargers, and solid state transformers.

Participants will receive an IEEE PDH or IEEE CoP certificate upon completing the 3-day course. Full details on PowerAmerica's website.
