Violumas announces ultra narrow beam UV LEDs

News
0.1W LEDs with 10° fused silica optics, come in 255nm, 265nm, 275nm, 295nm, and 310nm wavelengths

UV-LED company Violumas has launched an ultra narrow beam UV LED product suitable for collimation, focused illumination, long distance, and fibre coupling applications.

With integrated 10° fused silica optics, the VioBeam-1X1 range is said to achieve high intensities of up to 0.1W optical output.at extended distances, allowing for the reduction of LEDs in high-dosage systems. The LED is available in 255nm, 265nm, 275nm, 295nm, and 310nm wavelengths and ready for direct integration.

Compared to a typical 135° flat window, the VioBeam-1X1 can emit up to 55x higher intensity in a small spot size of 10x10mm at 50mm distance, thereby achieving high dosage targets with less LEDs, according to the company.

With five UVB/UVC wavelength options, the LED’s far-field intensity and focused spot illumination can be used for applications in life sciences, water disinfection, curing, spectroscopy, environmental monitoring, air purification, research, and more.

For fibre coupling applications, the VioBeam-1X1 can be coupled directly to an optical fibre or integrated with a secondary optic to achieve a collimated UV light source with minimal optical losses and costs.

The VioBeam-1X1 can also be used as a standalone device for applications requiring high intensities at extended distances, such as water disinfection and air purification, which often require light to travel through long distances to meet minimum dosage requirements.

The VioBeam-1X1 can be directly mounted into systems as a solder-free LED or provided with a heatsink as a compact, plug-and-play module.
