US ITC upholds Innoscience GaN chips ban

News
US International Trade Commission rules in favour of Infineon on conclusion of Presidential Review

Following last week's news that the Munich Regional Court has ruled in favour of Infineon in a GaN patent infringement case with Chinese chipmaker Innoscience, a previous ruling by the Full Commission of the US International Trade Commission (US ITC) on 7 May 2026 has now been upheld after the conclusion of a Presidential Review Period.

The rulling confirms that Innoscience infringes an Infineon patent concerning GaN technology, resulting in import and sales bans against Innoscience.

"This decision once again highlights the robustness of Infineon's intellectual property. It reinforces our commitment to actively protect Infineon's patent portfolio and uphold fair competition in the industry," says Johannes Schoiswohl, SVP and head of GaN systems business line at Infineon.

This latest US decision is part of a long-running patent battle between Infineon and Innoscience.

Innoscience took a positive view regarding the rulings from the Munich Regional Court. A simliar response is expected regarding the US ITC review.
