ams OSRAM delivered second-quarter results at the upper end of its guidance, reporting revenue of €805 million and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 16.9%, supported by continued strength in its semiconductor business. On a like-for-like basis and at constant exchange rates, the company's core semiconductor portfolio grew 13% year-on-year, while semiconductor design wins exceeded €2.5 billion during the first half of 2026.
For the compound semiconductor industry, the most significant development was continued progress in Digital Photonics. The company achieved key milestones towards mass production of its microLED array-based RGB light engines for next-generation augmented reality smart glasses, reinforcing its strategy to become a leading supplier of advanced photonic devices. It also launched development of micro-photodiode arrays for AI data centre optical interconnects, broadening its portfolio for emerging optical networking architectures.
CEO Aldo Kamper said the company is sharpening its focus on Digital Photonics through dedicated business lines established in July, with progress in both AR light engines and AI photonics expected to become increasingly reflected in future financial performance.
Looking ahead, ams OSRAM expects third-quarter revenue of €770-870 million with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 16.0% ±1.5%, while maintaining its expectation of a return to positive free cash flow in 2027.
