The initial investment of a single-digit amount in millions of euros in the CIGS solar cell manufacturer is part of a capital increase. The stake is to be expanded to a total interest of around 25 % early next year.
The firm will expand businesses in high-purity gases for semiconductor processing and various functional materials. SDK also aims to quickly commercialize new businesses in SiC epitaxial wafers for power devices.
After setting a new world record for efficiency with a test cell that peaked at 41.6 % the firm has entered production with essentially the same technology. The firm plans to deliver the first of these 39.2 % efficiency cells in January.
