III-V Epi CTO will help lead European Semiconductor Laser Workshop

News

III-V Epi CTO, Professor Richard Hogg, will help lead this year’s European Semiconductor Laser Workshop (ESLW), hosted at the University of Glasgow. Richard, who is Professor of Photonics at Aston University, is sharing the leadership with Dr. Scott Watson, Conference Chair; Dr. Kevin Gallacher, Programme Committee Chair; and Prof. Stephen Sweeney.

ESLW enables participants to stay up-to-date on all aspects of semiconductor laser development, including the physics, engineering, manufacture, and applications. Invited speakers are at the forefront of academic and industrial research. The workshop takes place alongside ECOC, the premier, European exhibition for the fibre optic communications industry, also held in Glasgow. The ESLW is held on Saturday 30th September 2023, at the Sir Charles Wilson Building, followed by a gala dinner at the Clydeside Distillery.

ESLW’s keynote speaker this year is Prof. Eric Tournie, from the University of Montpellier, France, with invited speakers Alessia Pasquazi, Loughborough University, UK; Sylvie Menezo, SCINTIL Photonics, France; Una Marvet, Alter Technology, UK; Dag Schmidt, Menlo Systems, Germany; Paul Crump, Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Germany; and Kouichi Akahane, NICT, Japan.

Workshop topics will include dynamic phenomena in semiconductor lasers; long wavelength lasers, including QCL and ICL; photonic crystal, nanoscale, and surface emission lasers; all-optical processing; new material systems, structures, and technologies; laser comb and millimetre wave generation; optical amplifiers; PIC’s, integrated devices and lasers on silicon.
