News

Belgian wafer firm included in list of 100 leading global companies in sustainable innovation

EpiGaN, a European supplier of GaN technology, has once again included by the Cleantech Group in their 2019 Global Cleantech 100.

EpiGaN, headquartered in Hasselt/Belgium, is a provider of GaN-on-Si and GaN-on-SiC material product solutions for next-generation power switching, RF power, and advanced sensor systems. The Global Cleantech 100 serves as an annual guide to leading companies and themes in sustainable innovation. It features independent, for-profit companies best positioned to solve tomorrow’s clean technology challenges. This year marks the 10th edition of the list.

“We at EpiGaN are delighted and honoured with this nomination for the 2019 Global Cleantech 100," said Marianne Germain, CEO and co-founder of EpiGaN. "It is another great reward for EpiGaN’s highly committed team. Innovative GaN technology enables drastic energy savings, volume and weight reductions of power systems, miniaturisation and significant cost reduction in areas where traditional Si solutions cannot meet current or future system requirements."

She added: "At our production facility in Hasselt (Belgium), we have developed unique GaN-on-Si and GaN-on-SiC wafer technologies up to 200mm on Si, and 150mm on SiC, which are more robust and offer differentiation to our global customer base. This year we are significantly scaling up our production capacity to meet the increasing demand ofs our customers for EpiGaN’s state-of-the art GaN technology.”

The Global Cleantech list combines the Group’s research data with qualitative judgements from nominations of a global 87-member panel comprised of leading investors and experts from corporations, and industrialists active in technology and innovation scouting. From pioneers and veterans to new entrants, the panel represents the global cleantech community and results in a list with a powerful base of support from many important players within the cleantech ecosystem.

The complete list of 100 companies was revealed on 28 January at the 17th annual Cleantech Forum San Francisco.
