Aixtron to invest up to €100M in R&D centre
New innovation centre in Herzogenrath to provide expanded capacities for research
Deposition equipment specialist Aixtron plans to invest up to €100M at its Herzogenrath site in Germany to build an innovation centre for R&D.
The new centre will provide 1000m2 of cleanroom space and will be built on the company’s premises in Herzogenrath. The new building will create further capacities for the next product generations which are already in preparation today, as well as for further product developments beyond that.
Aixtron says that the importance of product development is demonstrated by the success of Aixtron's new 'G10' tools. These include a SiC tool, which the company expects to generate more than 40 percent of its annual revenues. Also, a GaAs/InP system (G10-AsP) launched at the beginning of 2023, which already enjoys strong demand for high-volume production of Micro LEDs and lasers on wafers up to 200mm. Later in the year, the new G10 system for GaN will also be launched.
