GaN chip firms confirm continued supply
Chinese restrictions on gallium and germanium exports will have no impact, say Navitas and GaN Systems
Two GaN power chip companies Navitas Semiconductor and GaN Systems have separately confirmed their continued supply of GaN power ICs.
This follows hot on the heels of the announcement by China’s Ministry of Commerce of export restrictions of gallium and germanium, among other materials, starting in August.
Both chip companies have said that their wafer suppliers have verified that their production remains unaffected by the export restrictions, given multiple sources of gallium world-wide.
Navitas added that "significant sources of gallium are available worldwide, as it is a natural by-product in the production of other metals such as aluminum."
