IFW Optronics' 6H-SiC photodiodes offer responsivity up to 400 nm

IFW Optronics has updated its JEA-series of UV photodiodes to provide an extended wavelength response up to 400nm.

The original SiC-based range, which is suited to space, x-ray and harsh environmental applications, has been a work-horse detector for decades. It features high resilience and wide band-gap offering low leakage currents, superior radiation hardness, and temperature insensitivity.

The new extended wavelength response range called JEA0,1X has responsivity up to 400 nm and so includes the full UV-A, UV-B and UV-C spectrum.

While regular SiC with "˜4H' crystal structure shows reduced responsivity above 360nm wavelength, the "˜Extended SiC' is built from 6H-SiC material which has an with extended wavelength response. The new sensors are available with 0.05mm and 0.1mm active areas, TO5 and TO18 packages, and include optional integrated band pass optical filters.
