Plessey to unveil new Orion LED modules at LuxLive

New modules will form an interchangeable family for lighting designers

Plessey is to unveil additions to its Orion LED module family based on Stellar beam forming technology at LuxLive, London, November 23rd to 24th 2016.

The new modules will form an interchangeable family, allowing lighting designers to easily substitute modules to create a family of compact luminaires suitable for a wide range of lighting applications.

The recently announced Orion PLWS3000 series module represented a size and performance breakthrough for LED lighting modules giving architectural and industrial lighting designers a new level of design freedom, according to Plessey.

By integrating the LED and optics into a tiny module, the Orion module delivers over 3000 lumens from a unit just 5.6mm thick and 82mm in diameter. It uses Plessey's Stellar beam forming technology to achieve a powerful and highly directional beam from such a slim module. Key features include improved light uniformity and excellent thermal performance.

Paul Drosihn, Plessey's head of modular products, said: "By integrating the LED module with the optics, Plessey has delivered the next phase in LED lighting with low cost, high efficiency and greater control of light. We believe that Orion modules will transform the design of retail, industrial, hospitality and outdoor lighting.  The improved thermal characteristics allows the heat sink to be reduced in size enabling further size reductions in the end fixture."
