Strategy Analytics launches a new automotive connected mobility service

News

Mobility solutions are creating new sources of consumer value in the vehicle marketplace

The Automotive Connected Mobility (ACM) service reports on emerging mobility services with particular emphasis on car maker strategies, programs, acquisitions, investments and organisations. Mobility services include car sharing and ride hailing in all of their forms as well as new vehicle ownership and usage models including on-demand vehicle access, concierge services, fractional ownership and the like.

"Mobility services are creating new sources of consumer value in the vehicle marketplace changing the way consumers think about owning and using their cars," said Roger Lanctot, director of the new service. "Car sharing and ride hailing are altering the calculations of car makers and consumers and Strategy Analytics will be assessing that impact."

The Automotive Connected Mobility service will incorporate a consumer insights component with survey, focus group, and customer clinic elements tracking the rise of evolving mobility services with an emphasis on best practices. "Our in-depth automotive consumer research has identified key factors influencing consumer transport choices," said Chris Schreiner, director of the In-Vehicle User Experience practice at Strategy Analytics. "We will continue to evaluate how connected mobility offerings meet consumer needs and provide recommendations to optimize the entire user experience."

The service focuses on global and regional market adoption and penetration with emphasis on regulatory activities, subscription and service pricing, the number and types of vehicles in use and the impact on vehicle sales. Particular attention is paid to supporting and evolving business models and competitive factors. All of these factors are weighed in the context of maintaining a forecast for market adoption and impact.

The service is live as of April 25, 2017 and joins existing Global Automotive Practice (GAP) research program at Strategy Analytics headed by Vice President Chris Weber. GAP services are focused on automotive Infotainment and Telematics, Autonomous Vehicles, Powertrain/Safety/Semiconductors and User Experiences.
