Lumileds adds five new technologies to Matrix LED platform

News
Options designed to help lighting manufacturers streamline development of LED light engines
Lumileds has added five new "˜Advanced Technologies' to its Matrix Platform, to help lighting manufacturers streamline the development of integrated, fully assembled LED light engines.

These include: Oberon Intelligent Assembly (a pick-and-place system that selects LEDs based on specific test data such as flux or Vf); integrated light guides; integrated drivers to simplify fixture design and reduce space; dimming electronics using patented circuitry to achieve a "˜dim to warm' effect; and connectivity and controls to allow lighting manufacturers to design luminaires that can be controlled remotely via apps or other devices.

Combined with Lumiled's Luxeon LEDs, the new options pave the way for design and manufacturing breakthroughs, according to Lumileds.

"Customers find that not only does the Matrix Platform approach enable award and market-winning solutions, it also shaves weeks if not months off the traditional assembly approach and ensures a product reliability that only Lumileds can guarantee," said Viral Hazari, Matrix Platform product manager at Lumileds.
