Denso and Fuji Electric to partner on SiC for EVs

Japanese firms Denso and Fuji Electric will take part in joint investment and production of SiC power semiconductors for EVs.
The $1.4 billion collaboration was approved by the Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which will put up a third of the investment.
Denso has SiC technology development projects targeting increased quality and efficiency in relation to everything from wafers and element devices to modules and inverters.
Fuji Electric has been working on development of SiC power semiconductor elements that enable increased efficiency and more compact designs for power electronics equipment, including to mass production of the related modules.
Based on the approved plan, these companies will combine their respective automotive product development and production technology capabilities in a joint effort to expand their capacity for the efficient and stable supply of SiC power semiconductors throughout Japan.
Secure Your Hydrogen Supply
A study supply of high-purity hydrogen is critical to semiconductor fabrication. Supply chain interruptions are challenging manufacturers, leading to production slowdowns and stoppages. On-site hydrogen generation offers a scalable alternative for new and existing fabs, freeing the operator from dependence on delivered gas.Plant managers understand the critical role that hydrogen plays in semiconductor fabrication. That important job includes crystal growth, carrier gas, wafer annealing, and in the emerging Extreme UV Lithography (EUV) that will enable new generations of devices. As the vast need for semiconductors grows across all sectors of world economies, so does the need for high-purity hydrogen.
