Thomas Swan Seals GaN Reactor Deal with Jiangxi Fangda Focus Information Materials Co. Ltd

Jiangxi Fangda Focus Information Materials Co. Ltd (JFFIM), a division of China Fangda Group, has ordered 5 multiwafer production reactors from Thomas Swan Scientific Equipment Ltd. The purchase is for two 6 x 2-inch and three 19 x 2-inch reactors for use in the manufacture of GaN-based optoelectronic devices, including blue and violet LEDs.

The systems are due for delivery in the spring and fall of 2002, and add to the existing Thomas Swan system at the company s facility in the High-Tech Industry Development Zone in Nanchang, PRC. According to JFFIM s general manager, Dr. Yu Guoan, the company has also made a commitment to Thomas Swan as its exclusive supplier of GaN MOCVD reactors.

JFFIM is a joint venture company between several industrial and academic organizations, including the China Fanged Group, the Shines based Industrial Group, the Enterprise Group of Nanchang University, the Optronics Company of Nanchang University, the Jiangnan Materials Company, and the Hong Kong Junjia Group. The company was granted "Research Center" status for light emitting devices by the Chinese Education Department in May 2001.
