Growth slows in optical transport market, says RHK (Market News)
New forecast figures from RHK show that growth in the North American optical transport market will slow from 67% in 19992000 to 10% in 2001. This new figure updates a previous RHK forecast showing a 37% rise for 2001. The forecast predicts a rebound in 2002 as service providers deploy new transport products and long-haul WDM recovers from flat sales in 2001. The total North American optical transport market will grow from $19.6 billion in 2000 to $34.9 billion in 2004 (see ). The RHK forecast analyzes the long-haul and metro segments of the market and shows the metro market growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% to 2004, from $8.1 billion in 2000. The projection for long-haul over the same period is a CAGR of 20%, from $11.5 billion in 2000.
