Aixtron program supports MOCVD in China
The program will support rapid technology transfer in China, and will train business students and engineers of small- and medium-sized companies to develop competitive new products in the field of optoelectronics using Aixtron technology.
A short course on MOCVD will be held in China covering electronic and optoelectronic devices, production issues, and the use of nanotechnology for improved devices. Further hands-on lab courses will be conducted in China using state-of-the-art MOCVD equipment. These courses will include the improvement of material and device quality, yield management and other relevant topics.
At a later stage, Chinese students and engineers will carry out scientific work in Aachen regarding GaN-on-silicon for solid-state lighting, new laser concepts, improved LED manufacturing, high-power high-frequency HEMTs.
Michael Heuken, VP of Corporate Research & Development at Aixtron, said: "This promising project will teach young students and engineers state-of-the-art compound semiconductor technology for optoelectronic devices. This know-how can be directly transferred to the local device manufacturers, so that our customers will also benefit."
Heuken also mentioned the importance of the participation of Prof. Luo of Tsinghua University, Prof. Lau of HKUST and Prof. Jansen of RWTH Aachen.
