Asia strategy brings Anadigics business

With two design wins in the past few days, China is shaping up to be a lucrative market for handset PA maker Anadigics.

US-based InGaP HBT maker Anadigics has scored two design wins from Chinese cell phone handset manufacturers.

The Warren, NJ, company is shipping production volumes of power amplifier (PA) products to both Lenovo and Truetel.

Lenovo is using Anadigics AWT6108 quad-band PA modules in its new V858 model camera phones. The module supports GSM850, GSM900, DCS and PCS bands.

Truetel, which makes a range of products including wireless terminals, is employing the same PA modules, which Anadigics claims simplify handset calibration and shorten development time.

Anadigics says that the China business results partly from the company s "Asia-centric" strategy - Anadigics has technical support centers in both Shanghai in mainland China and Taipei, Taiwan.

Anadigics rival RFIC manufacturer RF Micro Devices recently stepped up its own Chinese presence through the opening of a sales and customer support office in Shenzhen last month.
