CEL ships new MeshConnect Extended Range Module
The company that sells products made by NEC Electronics compound semiconductor device division has announced it is now shipping its new MeshConnect Extended Range Module for 802.15.4/ZigBee applications.
It is expected that California Eastern Laboratories (CEL s) latest addition to its family of modules will enable applications such as baby monitors with two-way voice and intelligent control for LED lighting.
The device is also likely to be useful in large industrial environments - such as manufacturing plants and oil refineries – because it is able to maintain strong connections within a range of up to two miles.
It has an "impressive" battery life due to low sleep mode power consumption, despite being higher powered than shorter range modules.
Rich Howell, CEL director of business development, commented: "The Extended Range Module s robust link budget enables reliable networks even in harsh RF environments."
Prices for the product start at less than $17 (£10.42) for thousand-piece quantities.
As well as serving customers in North and South America, the company also deals with India, Israel and South Africa.
