Anadigics Provides LTE PA for LG’s First 4G USB Wireless Modem
The firm’s ALT6713 and AWT6321 InGaP PAs help maximize performance for LG’s VL600 USB modem.
Continuing to lead the industry with the latest technology trends, Anadigics has announced that its industry-leading power amplifiers are being utilized by LG Electronics (LG) for the new VL600 USB wireless modem.
The VL600, which will be offered by Verizon Wireless, adapts Anadigics’ ALT6713 and AWT6321 power amplifiers (PAs) to boost the performance and reliability of the device.
With the ever increasing worldwide commitment to LTE (Long-Term Evolution), the VL600 is LG’s first product for Verizon’s 4G network enabling significantly higher mobile data speeds with increased network throughputs. Verizon recently announced that it will be rolling out LTE network connections in 38 cities across the United States in the coming months. The VL600 will support the 700 MHz LTE Band as well as 1900MHz/800MHz EVDO bands for areas without the LTE coverage and is backward compatible with the existing 3G networks.
“With our extensive product portfolio, we are really excited about providing our solution to LG, one of the industry’s most innovative mobile product companies,” said Marcus Wise, VP of Wireless RF Products at Anadigics. “The ALT6713 powering the VL600 is another example of our innovative contribution towards driving the overall evolution of 4G.”
The ALT6713 power amplifier is the leading product in Anadigics’ portfolio of HELP4 (High-Efficiency-at-Low-Power) products for LTE devices. It supports Bands 13/14 encompassing the operating frequencies in the UMTS 700 MHz range. The ALT6713 delivers exceptional efficiency at low power levels and offers significantly low quiescent current without the need for external voltage regulators. It exceeds the stringent linearity needs for LTE modulations and averages about 30% less current consumption compared to the previous generation of HELP products.
Anadigics’ Dual band HELP2 AWT6321 PA delivers low quiescent current and greater efficiency without SMPS or DC-DC converters. Through selectable bias modes, the AWT6321 achieves optimal efficiency across different output power levels, specifically at low- and mid-range power levels where the PA typically operates, thereby dramatically increasing handset talk time and standby time.
Both the PAs are in mass production and are manufactured using advanced InGaP-Plus HBT technology offering state-of-the-art reliability, temperature stability and ruggedness.
