Advantech releases 4.4 - 5GHz modular GaN power amplifier
2.5kW TROPO C-Band PA has built in redundancy
Advantech Wireless, a Canadian manufacturer of satellite, RF equipment and microwave systems has just announced a 2.5kW TROPO C-Band modular GaN based solid state power amplifier (SSPA).
The new Advantech Wireless Model ARMA-CL2500A, C-Band GaN based SSPA operates over the Low C-band Tropo frequency of 4.4 to 5GHz, and it is fully modular with built in redundancy for all critical RF and Power Supply Modules.
These new devices are designed to be used as direct replacement of older generation Klystrons or TWTs. The most vital feature is the modular design, according to the company. This feature allows plug in modules, as power supplies and RF modules to be hot-swapped without any interruption of service or noticeable reduction in power.

Our TROPO line of GaN SSPAs, is a perfect match for the new generation of high data rate, long haul, cost efficient communication links using tropo scattering technologies. This proves to be a viable solution when satellite links are either cost prohibitive or simply not available," stated Cristi Damian, VP business development at Advantech Wireless.
