Sheaumann Laser to acquire Axcel Photonics
Sheaumann Laser, a privately held American laser and photonics company based in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has announced the acquisition of Axcel Photonics.
Axcel Photonics is a semiconductor laser manufacturing company with advanced capabilities in MOCVD growth, processing, and fabricating of laser chips for use in industrial, medical, military and aerospace applications.
Sheaumann Laser has broad based technology designing and delivering custom high quality diode-pumped solid state, flashlamp, and fibre-coupled laser modules and equipment.
The expectations of the combined team are for favourable growth and expansion into areas previously beyond their singular capabilities.
John Sousa is appointed the president of the merged company. He has served as president and CTO of Axcel, and has an extensive experience in management and technical support in the laser field. It is expected that Sousa will lead the combined company into further growth of their businesses.
The first significant opportunity to demonstrate their new identity and now combined offerings will be at SPIE Photonics West South Hall #2601 February 10-12, 2015.
