Mitsubishi to launch high power Red Laser Diode for Projectors

Pulsed 638nm laser diode emits industry-leading output power

Mitsubishi Electric is planning to launch a 638nm-wavelength red laser diode offering pulse operation output power of 2.5W. This is claimed to be the world's highest level among 638nm laser diodess used as light sources for projectors.

The device will go on sale in September this year.

Product features include  pulse operation of up to 40 percent duty ratio (ratio of light ON time to whole time) and luminosity in red colour from single light source exceeding 120 lumens due to lasing at short wavelength.

The electrical conversion efficiency is 39 percent at 2.5W at 25degC, helping to reduce power consumption

It emits 2.5W under pulse operation within an operating range of 0 to 45degC.
