Advantech Wireless releases X-Band GaN PA for military use
300W/400W devices offer 60 percent increase in linearity
Advantech Wireless, a Canadian satellite broadband communications company, has released a 300W/400W X-Band SapphireBlu SSPA/SSPB (solid state power amplifier/block) for military applications, based on second generation GaN technology
"The second generation X-band GaN SSPAs are designed to meet the stringent requirements of military standards for mobile satcom terminals. These new SSPAs provide an impressive 60 percent increase in linearity over the previous generation solid state technology while reducing the size and energy consumption by more than 50 percent, " said Cristi Damian, VP Business Development at Advantech Wireless.
Designed to be mounted on ruggedised military trailers, these are a direct replacement for 750W travelling wave tubes, fully compliant with the latest versions of Mil-Std-810G.
Advantech Wireless' second generation X-Band GaN based SapphireBlu SSPAs/SSPBs are also MIL-STD-188-164A latest revision compliant.
