VCSEL Market to be Worth over $2000m by 2020

CAGR of over 20 percent driven by both traditional and emerging applications

According to a new market research report published MarketsandMarkets, the total VCSEL market size is expected to reach $2,105.3 million by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 21.99 percent (from its value for $611.3 million in 2014).

The North American region is estimated to account for a large share of this market, whereas the Asia-Pacific region is expected to witness the highest CAGR of 23.80 percent during the forecast period.

The report "˜VCSEL Market by Application (Data Communication, Sensing, Infrared Illumination, Industrial Heating), End User (Data Center, Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Industrial, Healthcare, and Others) and Geography - Forecast to 2020", says the VCSEL market will witness a high-growth phase from its traditional applications such as optical datacommunication and sensing as well as emerging applications like infrared illumination, pumping, and industrial heating.

The demand for VCSEL devices from data communication application is set to receive a boost with the construction of new datacentres for data analytics and cloud computing solutions. At the same time, the development of high-power VCSEL devices is generating demand in pumping and industrial heating applications. These recent breakthroughs are expected to not only drive the VCSEL market growth in the coming years, but also lead to introduction new market segments.
