Ciena to acquire photonics technologies from TeraXion
$32million agreed for InP, silicon photonics technologies and underlying IP
US network specialist Ciena has announced that it will acquire Canadian company TeraXion's high-speed photonics components assets for around $32 million. These include InP and silicon photonics technologies as well as underlying intellectual property (IP).
Ciena described the technologies and IP involved as "key enablers of Ciena's industry-leading WaveLogic coherent optical chipsets."
Ciena has shipped over 75,000 coherent high-speed coherent line interfaces to more than 240 customers across the globe, with more than 80 million coherent kilometers deployed.
