Cree LED files patent lawsuit against NanoLumens
Cree LED, part of Penguin Solutions, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against NanoLumens in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
The lawsuit asserts that NanoLumens has infringed Cree LED’s rights in six US Patents (Nos. US8049230, US9054257, US9831393, US7718991, US9240395, and USD691100) by selling certain display products.
The patents cover various miniature surface mount devices, three types of water-resistant LEDs and LED displays; and a lighting device which includes one or more solid state light emitters.
Cree LED has pioneered advancements include the introduction of the industry’s first IPX6/IPX8-rated surface-mount device (SMD) LEDs for displays, the development of High Contrast SMD LEDs, and the launch of proprietary FusionBeam Technology.
“Protecting our intellectual property is essential to sustaining innovation and ensuring a level playing field,” said Jesse Reiherzer, vice president of Cree LED’s High Bright business. “We will continue to take decisive action to defend our patents and uphold the integrity of our technology.”
