OSTAR family lights up new Epson projectors
Seiko Epson has released four new portable smart projectors built around six Ams Osram colour LEDs from the Osram OSTAR Projection Power product family.
Epson's Lifestudio Pop EF-61,62, and Lifestudio Flex EF 71, 72 projectors contain a new light engine with three colour light source, and are described as a leap forward in 3LCD technology, "redefining 4K enhancement image quality through a precise balance of projection technology and light source innovation."
The high-power OSTAR LEDs are based on Ams Osram's latest generation of isolated ultra-high current chip technology integrated into a thermally optimised SMT-mountable metal-core package.
According to Ams Osram, this combination allows the heat to spread most efficiently and reduces thermal resistance from the chips to the heatsink to minimum, allowing them to achieve a much higher brightness compared to typical LEDs used for illumination.
This latest generation has an enhancement of ~15 percent brightness increases as compared to previous generation. Additionally, the cap-less optical design of the packages enables highly efficient light coupling into the optical path of the application system.
The Osram OSTAR Projection Power devices are available as a monochrome module of the colour’s amber, converted green and blue and in various configuration levels with one, two, four or six chips.
