London CS networking event will bring together international businesses, policymakers and academics

As part of the Wales Festival of Innovation organised by ESTNet, industrial, academic and government agency players in the South Wales CS cluster will be presenting a unique event in London on 7th March 2018: 'CS Connected "“ Building the world's first compound semiconductor cluster.'

CS Connected unites international businesses, policymakers and academics who are building next-generation technology that can position Wales as a world-leader in compound semiconductor technologies and applications. The event is an opportunity to find out more about the cluster and the opportunities for your company to work with them, and to network with like-minded businesses.

Compound semiconductors are increasingly at the heart of mainstream technologies from consumer to industrial, healthcare, automotive and aerospace applications. It is a sector rapidly transforming into a major global industry.

Wales already has a wealth of industrial and academic expertise in advanced semiconductor technologies in the form of IQE, SPTS (Orbotech), Newport Wafer Fab and Microsemi, who, supported by a strong research and development eco-system, has all the elements in place to claim the region's title as the World's first Compound Semiconductor cluster, CSconnected.

Businesses in this fast-growing compound semiconductor cluster are actively recruiting new talent and expect to create around 2,000 highly skilled jobs over the next three to five years. IQE alone plans to take on up to 500 staff as part of its expansion into a new epitaxial wafer facility in Newport.
