Luminus announces 280nm UV-LEDs
Luminus enters UV-C LED disinfection and sterilisation segment
Luminus Devices has expanded its ultraviolet LED portfolio with two new 280nm devices intended for disinfection and sterilisation applications.
The standard footprint 3535 surface mount emitter is a 350 mA device with peak output up to 60 mW. The second 1313 ultra-compact emitter is 1.3 mm by 1.3 mm and only 0.85 mm tall; it delivers 3 mW at 20 mA and peak output of 11 mW at 100 mA.
"Air, surface and water disinfection markets will see a significant number of new products and new product categories over the next 36 months," said Stephane Bellosguardo, VP of specialty lighting marketing. "Just as the computer industry was driven by ever smaller and faster processors, so will be the innovation in markets like air and water purification with miniature products like our 1313 UV-C LED."
The new UV-C devices are the latest additions to the company's ultraviolet portfolio. It offers both surface mount devices and modules in the UV-A spectrum that are designed for horticulture, curing, additive manufacturing, and medical instrumentation.
"UV LED based industrial applications are already growing rapidly and represent an increasingly important segment of our non-visible specialty products alongside infra-red emitters," said Bellosguardo.
