Watkins-Johnson Introduces Ultra-High Dynamic Range

Watkins-Johnson Company (NYSE: WJ), a high technology company specializing in RF communication electronics, announced today that its Wireless Products Group (WPG) has introduced the AH11 GaAs Amplifier to supplement its expanding line of linear GaAs components. Manufactured in Milpitas, Calif. at WJ s ISO9000 certified GaAs and thin film facility, the AH11 will be exhibited for the first time at the European Microwave Show this week in Munich, Germany (booth number 123/124).

The AH11 extends the linear efficiency advantages of the AH1 to higher power levels. It can deliver over
+17dBm of linear output power with an output IP3 greater than 50dBm, operating from a 5V supply in a
push-pull configuration. It also exhibits 3.7dB Noise Figure at a P1dB of +27dBm.

"The AH11, a dual version of our highly successful AH1, is ideal for base-station receivers and broadband
wireless distribution where ultra-high dynamic range is required," said Skip Hoover, vice president of sales and marketing of WPG. "It demonstrates WJ s ongoing commitment to develop leading edge products for the communications markets."

The AH11 is targeted at applications where higher output power and exceptional linearity are required. It is
produced using GaAs MESFET technology and features an MTTF in excess of 100 years. The AH11 is
available in an industry standard SOIC-8 package and is 100% RF and DC tested prior to shipment. Devices are available for immediate delivery from WJ and are priced at less than $6.75 per unit in order quantities greater than 10,000 pieces.

The AH11 is available from Watkins-Johnson, in the United States at 1-800-WJ1-4401 or in Europe at
44.125.266.1761. WJ components are distributed in the USA by Nu-Horizons Electronics, 1-888-747-6846;
and Richardson Electronics, 1-800-348-5580. In Europe, they are distributed by Richardson Electronics,
49.89.890214.0.

Watkins-Johnson Company is a recognized leader in the field of RF communication electronics. WPG provides components, integrated assemblies and repeaters for use in a variety of system and terminal applications for cellular, PCS, cable and fiber optic communications. The group is dedicated, through research and development, to continue expansion by meeting global demand for advanced RF communication products.
