Lucent Technologies Selects Alpha Industries as Preferred Supplier

Alpha Expects Tripling of Sales

WOBURN, MA. Alpha Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:AHAA), a major supplier of radio frequency integrated circuits for wireless voice and data applications, announced today that Lucent Technologies has selected Alpha as a preferred supplier of gallium arsenide (GaAs) radio frequency ICs and semiconductors for Lucent operations, including consumer, wireless networks, business communications, microelectronics and optical networking. This upgraded status makes Alpha part of the very small group of semiconductor companies given preference in vendor selection, when many companies are reducing the number of vendors with which they do business.

Todd Brown, Alpha s Strategic Account Manager for Lucent Technologies, stated, "We are pleased and honored that Lucent has selected Alpha for this special status. It took a lot of hard work by many people at Alpha to establish the track record that made us eligible for this honor. We value our relationships with our Lucent customers, and we aim to expand these relationships further by providing Lucent with world-class products, support and service."

Chris Conlin, Alpha s Director of Worldwide Sales, stated, "Lucent is a major wireless equipment OEM and an important Alpha customer. Our Strategic Account Management Team has focused all our customer support functions on working together to meet Lucent s needs. This team is driving a strong increase in sales to Lucent, and we expect that next year s sales into a broad range of Lucent products, including broad-band access, Bluetooth radio modules, cordless phones and base stations, will be three times our sales this
year."

Alpha Industries designs and manufactures a broad range of products for microwave and radio frequency wireless communications applications. The Wireless Semiconductor segment provides gallium arsenide (GaAs) integrated circuits and other semiconductors to the dynamic global market for wireless telephone handsets. The Application Specific Products (ASP) segment provides a broad range of GaAs and silicon devices to satellite, instrumentation, defense and other communications markets. The Ceramic Products segment provides technical ceramic products for wireless telephony infrastructure and other wireless markets.
