Fraunhofer buys MOCVD reactor for LEDs and blue lasers

The Fraunhofer IAF (Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid-State Physics) of Freiburg in Germany has purchased an additional Aixtron AIX 200/4RF-S reactor for the development of nitride materials used to manufacture high-brightness blue and UV LEDs, in addition to violet emitting lasers used in optical data storage.

The IAF is a leading research institute in the field of short wavelength UHB LEDs employing GaN/InGaN, and co-operates closely with industrial partners to develop processes for mass production of such devices. Claus Ehrenbeck
