Multilink and IPAG collaborate on InP devices

Multilink Technology Corporation, a fabless supplier of GaAs digital and mixed-signal ICs based in Somerset, NJ, has entered a collaboration with Innovative Processing AG of Duisburg, Germany, to develop InP devices. Multilink will work closely with IPAG on the marketing, design and testing of 40 Gbit/s optical pin diode receivers, electronic traveling wave amplifiers and optoelectronic monolithically-integrated devices. Additionally, Multilink will be the exclusive channel for IPAG s line of integrated optoelectronic receivers.

"By combining Multilink s superior products and systems knowledge with IPAG s components development processes, we can offer customers complete low-power high data rate transmitter and receiver solutions for optimum network performance," said Jens Albers, Multilink s executive VP and co-chairman, and vice chairman of the IPAG supervisory board.

"IPAG focuses on InP as the most attractive candidate for monolithic integration of high-speed electronics, optoelectronics and optical (photonic) devices," added IPAG s CEO Ralf Bertenburg. "With our extensive knowledge and access to a complete InP processing line, IPAG is able to establish a standardized InP process technology with high yield. We are very excited about the partnership with Multilink which enables us to leverage this know-how and to bring our highly sophisticated products to the customer."

Multilink s minority equity investment in IPAG will grant the company early access to critical optical and optoelectronic devices for advanced higher-level sub-systems and modules. Multilink will work closely with IPAG on system and component requirements and packaging.
