Aeronex hydride gas purification patent disputed by SAES Getters

Aeronex, Inc., a manufacturer of proprietary hydride gas purifiers based in San Diego, California, has been named in a patent infringement action brought by SAES Getters SpA. Aeronex was awarded US Patent number 6,241,955 for its hydride gas purification technology. SAES claims that the Aeronex patent infringes upon a patent owned by SAES. Aeronex denies the patent infringement allegations, stating that its gas purifier technology (GateKeeper® and Infinity GPS®) is not covered by SAES s patent.

Hydride gas purifiers are used in the epitaxial growth of compound semiconductor device structures to remove oxygen and other contaminants. Aeronex has been awarded or applied for 12 patents in the last few years. The company s position as a leader in the gas purification market is indicated by its 50% growth in purifier sales in 2001, outpacing all other competitors in the gas purification market.
