Lucent shareowners received 0.010779464 of a share of Agere Class A common stock and 0.264563010 of a share of Agere Class B common stock for each share of Lucent held on May 3.

Agere completes spin-off from Lucent On June 3, Agere Systems announced that Lucent Technologies has completed the spin-off of the company, and has distributed approximately 945 million shares of Agere common stock to nearly 5 million shareowners. With the distribution, Agere has become a fully separate company.

"We are beginning an exciting new phase of our life as a leader in our industry," said John Dickson, president and CEO of Agere Systems. "As a completely independent company, we will sharpen our focus on our target markets and forge deeper, more strategic relationships with our customers."

Lucent shareowners received 0.010779464 of a share of Agere Class A common stock and 0.264563010 of a share of Agere Class B common stock for each share of Lucent held on May 3. Investors will receive only whole shares of Agere stock. Those entitled to fractional shares will receive cash. UltraRF changes name to Cree MicrowaveUltraRF, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cree, Inc. that makes high-power, high-performance laterally diffused metal-oxide silicon (LDMOS) RF power semiconductors for the wireless industry, has changed its name to Cree Microwave, Inc. effective immediately. The UltraGold brand will continue as the recognized product designation for Cree Microwave.

John Quinn, VP of Cree Microwave, stated, "We are excited to incorporate the Cree name brand which exhibits an impressive reputation in the marketplace and possesses a strong leadership position. We will build on those strengths at Cree Microwave and continue to develop and offer premium products targeted to meet the current and long-term requirements for the wireless infrastructure market." Greene, Tweed sets up Scottish officeGreene, Tweed & Co, a supplier of seals and process-critical parts to semiconductor manufacturers, has established an office at the Scottish Microelectronics Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Commenting on the choice of venue Chris Walker, Marketing Manager, said “This location has been strategically chosen to give access to the extensive semiconductor equipment and cleanroom facilities within the SMC. This will allow us to conduct semiconductor-related testing and give us an even greater integration into the semiconductor supply chain.

The Scottish Microelectronics Centre is an innovative combination of research, development and corporate incubation, targeted at companies working in the semiconductor industry. Opened in July 2000 the centre now houses The University of Edinburgh s Silicon Technology Research Group, six companies and the suppliers’ industry trade body, JEMI UK. Greene, Tweed supplies seals and other process-critical parts to all of the leading semiconductor manufacturing companies, both for wet chemistry and dry plasma systems. TePla merges with PVA GroupTePla AG, a manufacturer of plasma systems based in Feldkirchen, Germany, has reached an agreement to merge with PVA Vakuum-Anlagenbau GmbH. The two companies had combined revenues of Euro 90 million ($84.5 million) in 2001 and a total workforce of more than 300 staff.
