Anadigics expands capacity on strength of wireless sales
Specifically, the additional space will accommodate increased production of 6-inch InGaP HBT wafers, which are used to manufacture power amplifier circuits used in cell phones and PDAs. Anadigics says it has seen a growth in demand for such products from handset makers such as Kyocera, LG and Sony Ericsson, as well as from the flourishing Asian manufacturing sector. Recently, the company raised its second quarter revenue expectations from $21 million to $23 million on the strength of growing demand for its wireless devices.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of the expansion because it will provide the platform for the future of Anadigics,” said president and CEO Bami Bastani. “We were one of the first companies to recognize the potential of 6-inch InGaP HBT technology, and we are now reaping the results in terms of increasing revenues through growth in demand for our power amplifier products. We have also won market share through the outstanding quality and performance of our products, and investment in this new fabrication facility can only enhance our capabilities in this respect.”
