UMS adds design centers in USA and Germany

United Monolithic Semiconductors (UMS) has expanded its design activities with a new operation in North Andover, Massachusetts, and extended its design cooperation with IMST in Germany.
UMS, a manufacturer of GaAs MMICs based in Orsay, France and Ulm, Germany has established a new company to service its customers in North America. Operations have begun at the new site in Andover, Massachusetts, which include sales, customer support services and a MMIC design center.

"The new design center will expand UMS product lines into new business areas," said Heinrich Daembkes, UMS president and CEO. "We will expand our design expertise with dedicated solutions based on local customer requirements. The US is the largest user of GaAs MMICs, and we are confident that with this new American base, UMS will enhance its American presence and increase its market share."

UMS has also extended its design agreements with IMST (Kamp-Lintfort, Germany) to allow IMST to act as an UMS certified design house. The cooperation extends several years of partnership on GaAs MMIC design, and will provide IMST with preferred access to UMS process information, models and design tools. IMST will design and develop products for their own or common customers, based on the UMS processes for applications including remote sensors and wireless communications.
