Aixtron promotes GaN research in China
Aixtron and the University of Tsinghua have joined forces to drive GaN technology forward
Aixtron and the department of Electronics Engineering, Tsinghua University, China, have agreed to work together on GaN materials and devices. The main aim of the agreement is to increase technology transfer between academic and industrial partners.
According to Yi Luo, a scientific researcher at the university, the agreement will focus on developing GaN materials and devices for high-power, high-frequency electronic applications.
"We have grown state-of-the-art blue LEDs in our planetary reactor installed at the university, which has enabled our institute to gain business opportunities in this field," said Luo. "Electronic and optoelectronic devices will play a crucial role in the rapidly growing Chinese economy."
"Our joint work will open up the path to young Chinese students and researchers that will promote the III-V industry in China in the near future," added Michael Heuken, vice president of research and development at Aixtron.
