News in brief: Zia, Nikko, Honeywell and Genoa
Zia Laser, a manufacturer of 1310 nm and 1550 nm quantum dot lasers based in Albuquerque, NM, has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification. The certification covers all aspects of the development, design and manufacturing of Zia s products.
"The quality management system is a key foundation for the company," said Joe Dixon, Zia s chief of operations. “Instilling an ISO quality mindset in every aspect of our business will help insure Zia s operational excellence now and in the future."
Meanwhile, Nikko Materials USA has achieved ISO 9002:1994 certification for its quality management system. The registration brings the company s Chandler, AZ, facility in line with its parent company s plant in Isohara, Japan. The company offers sputtering targets and InP and CdTe wafers.
Honeywell and Richardson make VCSEL deal
Richardson Electronics has signed an agreement with Honeywell s VCSEL product division to distribute the latter’s line of laser products. Under the terms of the agreement, Richardson will have distribution rights in Europe, the UK, Africa and the Middle East. Honeywell manufactures standard and custom VCSEL packages including arrays, TO can, LC, SC, optical subassemblies and optical front-end transmitters and detectors.
Genoa partners with distributors in Europe and Asia
Linear optical amplifier manufacturer Genoa Corporation has established distribution partnerships for the European, Japanese and Korean markets. Genoa is now represented throughout Europe by Laser 2000 and by CoreTech Corporation in Korea. In Japan, Genoa is represented by Optiwa, a sales rep firm and also has distributorships with Kanematsu Devices, Macnica I & C Company, and Unidux.
