RF switch orders roll in at Filtronic

The agreement signed with M/A-COM in November 2001 is finally bearing fruit for Filtronic as the company announces major orders for RF switches.
Filtronic has received initial production orders from M/A-COM for RF switches to be used in cellular handsets. The switches will be manufactured using Filtronic Compound Semiconductor’s (FCS’s) GaAs PHEMT process at its fab in Newton Aycliffe, UK. The switches are destined for mobile phones manufactured by one of M/A-COM’s customers.

FCS says that it anticipates significant follow-on orders as M/A-COM is expecting business with its OEM customers to grow substantially in the next 12 months. Also, FCS has said that it is expecting volume orders from M/A-COM for switch products for use in wireless LAN equipment. Production at FCS for the WLAN products is expected to start in early 2003.
