Aixtron, EV Group and others open offices in Asia

Several companies – Aixtron, Celeritek, EV Group and Sirenza Microdevices – have opened new sales and support offices in Asia.
Aixtron Group opens new Shanghai service office

The Aixtron Group is proud to announce the opening of a new service office in Shanghai, China, offering a comprehensive service, local spare parts supply and process support for the entire Aixtron Group product range which includes Aixtron AG, Thomas Swan Scientific Equipment Ltd. and Epigress AB CVD systems.

A team of highly qualified service engineers possessing vast expertise in the group products will support all customers, operating directly from the new office. Dr TZ Chung is the chief representative of the Shanghai Service Office, bringing with him both MOCVD experience and a close relationship with all companies of the Aixtron Group for more than 10 years. A comprehensive consignment stock for MOCVD tools supplied by Aixtron, Thomas Swan and Epigress will be installed in the near future.

"We can now offer our Chinese customers a fast, reliable and high quality local service for all products of Aixtron, Thomas Swan and Epigress, an essential prerequisite for coping with the increasing demands of the strongly growing MOCVD market in China," said Steve Perry, Executive VP and COO, responsible for Aixtron’s Global Service Operations.

Celeritek opens new sales and technical support office in Korea

RFIC manufacturer Celeritek has opened a new sales and technical support office in Seoul, Korea. Celeritek s CEO and President, Tamer Husseini said, "We believe Korea will present significant growth opportunities for Celeritek, in handsets, WLAN and other wireless technology areas. We are pleased with our recent success in securing production orders from key Korean handset OEM s, and the local office will provide our valued customers with the level of support they deserve."

Thurman Dobbs, VP of Sales, said, "We have seen increased interest and acceptance of our products in Korea and this new office enables Celeritek to better serve key existing customers, and further strengthens our efforts to support the Asia-Pacific region."

EV Group expands its operations into Taiwan

EV Group (EVG), manufacturer of MEMS and semiconductor wafer processing equipment, announces the start-up of direct operations in Taiwan under the newly formed joint venture company EVG-Jointech Corp. The company, which will start its operations in October, has been created out of the successful former regional team with members from EVG and the representative company for EVG equipment in Taiwan.

EVG-Jointech Corp. will be located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, and will be lead by Tsemin Tsai who has been working with EVG for many years. For EVG this is a logical step in order to come closer to the Taiwanese customer base which range from industrial MEMS foundries to advanced packaging production companies. This new company will be a core site for technology transfer and customer support.

"Our expanded presence in Taiwan gives us the ability to provide quicker, better and more qualified on-site service to our Taiwanese customers," said Peter Podesser, CEO of EVG. "Our common goal is to work as closely as possible with customers by combining local expertise with the European knowledge base."

Sirenza Microdevices Opens Customer Support Office in Shenzhen, PRC

Sirenza Microdevices, a fabless RFIC designer, has established a new customer support office in Shenzhen, PRC. "This new office will provide critical real-time applications engineering support to key OEM accounts throughout China," said Norm Hilgendorf, Sirenza s VP of sales and marketing.

"Our new presence in Shenzhen reflects the importance of the China market to Sirenza," said Bob Van Buskirk, SMDI s president and CEO. "The establishment of this office is another step in our efforts to build a strong and enduring direct-support capability for the wireless OEMs in China. As the communications market continues to expand in China, Sirenza will be better able to provide our customers world-class product, applications and technical support."

* In further news, Sirenza has completed its acquisition of Xemod Inc. a privately held, fabless designer and manufacturer of RF power amplifier modules and components based on patented lateral double-diffused transistor (LDMOS) technology. The transaction was valued at approximately $4.5 million in cash, with additional cash considerations for Xemod s achievement of technology licensing objectives.
