RF Micro Devices opens design center in Boulder
The Boulder office will focus on designing low-cost, highly optimized integrated solutions that support the convergence of multiple standards, such as cellular, wireless LAN, Bluetooth and global positioning system (GPS).
RFMD anticipates the design center will leverage the company s position in the cellular and wireless LAN markets to enable highly integrated convergence solutions.
"We believe future multi-function wireless devices will require multi-standard radio solutions that integrate cellular, wireless LAN, Bluetooth and GPS," said Bill Pratt, CTO and founder of RF Micro Devices.
"The Boulder design center team should help us leverage and accelerate the trend toward these next-generation devices, through their expertise in DSP direct mixed signal calibration and large mixed signal SoC integration optimized for multi-standard radios."
Baker Scott, manager of RFMD s Boulder design center and formerly president and CEO of Channel Technology, said, "RF Micro Devices is a clear leader in the wireless market, and we are excited to join forces. RFMD s expertise in cellular and wireless LAN, combined with our experience in wireless systems architectures, should enable us to provide integrated solutions supporting multiple standards."
