Kopin switches on CyberLite LED revenue

Kopin’s latest financial results included $1.3 million revenue from its CyberLite LED which is expected to become an increasingly significant revenue earner for the company.
Kopin increased its revenue by 9% sequentially to $18.0 million during the March quarter. For the first quarter of 2002, Kopin posted revenue of $17.6 million. The company’s net loss for the quarter was $2.2 million. This compares with a net loss of $15.1 million, in Q4 of 2002, and a net loss of $3.2 million, in the first quarter of 2002.

Significantly, Kopin s III-V revenue increased 68.5% sequentially to $9.5 million and 23.2% compared to the year ago quarter. The III-V revenue included the first contribution of $1.3 million from Kopin s new CyberLite LED.

"We also are pleased with the performance of our HBT products. Revenue grew sequentially, reflecting a weak comparable fourth quarter of 2002 but also stronger-than-anticipated orders, particularly for wireless local area network applications,” said John Fan, Kopin’s president and CEO. “Our GAIN-HBT technology has been well received, and we are on pace to secure a design win for this transistor in 2003.”

During the June quarter the company expects to see revenue grow a further 10%, with CyberLite revenue rising to above $2 million. CyberDisplay revenue growth is expected to resume after decreasing by 21% in the March quarter.
