Anadigics ships one million wireless LAN PAs

Anadigics has shipped more than one million InGaP HBT PAs since its announcement of the acquisition of a wireless local area network (WLAN) PA product line in April, 2003.
The company s InGaP HBT power amplifiers deliver high linearity and efficiency to support the more stringent RF performance requirements of emerging WLAN standards.

"Achieving this milestone demonstrates Anadigics commitment to market leadership in the WLAN market," said Ron Michels, VP of Broadband Products at Anadigics.

"The acquisition of the complete WLAN PA and module product lines of RF Solutions was key to our strategy. It contributed to accelerating our market share growth while strengthening our ability to meet the requirements of reference design companies and Tier 1 OEMs, including some of the most recognized players in the industry."

Although analysts had forecasted the shipment of 14 million units industry-wide in 2002, actual shipments for the year totaled an estimated 23 million. Estimates are that 2003 industry shipments will reach the 43 million mark, making this sector one of the few current growth areas in the semiconductor industry.

"The fact that we reached this milestone so quickly affirms the emergence of Anadigics as a leading WLAN PA supplier," said Marcus Wise, senior director of WLAN Products at Anadigics, Inc.

"Anadigics is now strongly positioned to provide a complete family of single and dual-band power amplifiers and IP that can address the needs of emerging WLAN systems. In fact, our products already are being incorporated into several important WLAN reference designs, and we see significant potential for further growth in this space."

As announced on April 2, 2003, Anadigics acquired the complete WLAN PA and module product lines of RF Solutions to strategically address IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11a, and IEEE 802.11g standards, broaden the company s customer base, accelerate its penetration of the emerging WLAN market, and increase its served available market.
