Veeco sponsors award recognizing MBE innovation
NAMBE and International MBE officials will select the winners for the $3,000 award, which will be presented at the annual meetings of both organizations.
NAMBE is now soliciting nominations for the first MBE Innovator Award, to be presented at the fall 2003 NAMBE Conference, which takes place from September 29 to October 2, 2003 in Colorado, USA.
The deadline for nominations is August 25, 2003. Nomination forms for the award and complete details can be found at the NAMBE website.
Nominations are open from any universities, government organizations or commercial companies worldwide. The individuals nominated must have shown innovation in advancing MBE technology in one or more of the following categories:
1- materials research
2- device development
3- device commercialization
4- equipment development
“We’re pleased to jointly launch these awards with NAMBE and International MBE,” said Marlin Braun, general manager of Veeco MBE operations.
“MBE is a critical enabling technology for telecommunication, semiconductor and lighting applications. This award acknowledges those who have contributed to MBE’s success and will spur innovations that further expand MBE’s usage around the world.”
The NAMBE Conference is the largest annual gathering of MBE experts in North America. The organization’s purpose is to share the latest research discoveries in MBE and the new materials and devices based upon MBE, as well as progress in further developing MBE as a high-volume manufacturing technology.
The International MBE organization meets every other year for similar purposes. The NAMBE organization joins with the International MBE group when the latter holds its meetings in North America.
