Archcom and VSK Photonics complete merger
Archcom Technology, a maker of uncooled laser diodes based in Azusa, CA, and InP photodiode manufacturer VSK Photonics of Lake Forest, CA, have completed their merger.
The combined company, which is to retain the name Archcom Technology, will offer a complete line of transmit and receive optical components for datacom, telecom and military/aerospace applications.
Archcom CEO Dick Chen said: “The complementary products and technologies of Archcom and VSK are an ideal combination.”
VSK CEO Timothy Vang becomes the merged company’s executive VP of the receiver product line. “We expect the merged company to provide one-stop shopping for for transponder and transceiver suppliers,” said Vang.
As part of the transaction, Archcom also closed its series B financing round, although it declined to say how much cash had been raised.
Archcom’s products include 1310nm and 1550nm lasers and InGaAs photodiodes operating from 155Mbps to 10Gbps, as well as 980nm laser modules for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs).
VSK Photonics’ expertise lies in 10Gbps and 40Gbps optoelectronic integrated circuits.
