Skyworks revenue hits record high
US-based Skyworks Solutions has reported record sales of $220 million for its first fiscal quarter ended 31 December, 2004, in line with the company's guidance.
The RF systems manufacturer's revenue was up $2.1 million on the previous quarter, and 26 percent higher than the equivalent quarter one year ago.
Operating income, as reported under standard accounting procedures, was $22.9 million, up from $18.8 million sequentially, and over double the $10.4 million recorded for the first fiscal quarter of 2003.
"Driven by the rapid customer adoption of our LIPA W-CDMA modules, Helios EDGE radios and Pegasus multimedia system solutions, we continue to gain market momentum and benefit from the transition to EDGE and 3G - where product size, performance, cost and power efficiency are at a premium," remarked Skyworks CEO David Aldrich.
The company forecasts revenue for the next fiscal quarter to fall to $190 million, due to the seasonal nature of the handset market, followed by sequential growth in the remaining quarters of 2005.
