APA nets $1.9 million from MOCVD saleUS-based APA Enterprises has generated $1.9 million in cash by selling its MOCVD operations and related intellectual property and entering into a revenue-sharing licensing agreement.
The transaction includes the sale of the APA's multi-wafer MOCVD system and technical know-how associated with the growth of epilayers, and two heterojunction FET patents and associated intellectual property.
The company says that its Optronics division will now focus mainly on its GaN-based ultraviolet detectors and amplifiers.
Bookham raises $24 million from Caswell saleBookham is set to raise $24 million on March 30 through the sale and associated leaseback of its Caswell manufacturing facility to property investment company Scarborough Developments.
The sale of this UK facility follows a public stock offering and the sale of various other assets (see related stories), and increases the total amount of money raised by the company to $101 million.
Commenting on the sale, company CEO Giorgio Anania remarked: "We believe that Bookham now has one of the stronger balance sheets in the optical components market."
